The Importance of Quality Lumber for the Life of your Sauna
InfraWell Saunas are made with Top Grade BC Hemlock. Our Hemlock Tongue & Groove boards are 7mm thick, kiln dried to exacting specifications and are cut to provide tight Vertical Grain boards. These features are essential to ensure the longevity of your sauna by minimizing the possiblility of deforming wood over time.
Our select cutting of the Hemlock logs is especially important. Stability against warping, splitting etc. and resiliency to moisture is ensured by using tight Vertical Grain boards. Production of Vertical Grain boards requires particualr cutting/ milling methods with a limited quantity of vertical grain cuts possible from each log. InfraWell saunas are made almost entirely with Vertical Grain boards and only minimal use of lower quality 'flat grain' boards.
Many competing brands of saunas use a high proportion of inferior, less stable 'flat grain' boards.
